1. Real examples of their work
A good shop is proud to show you before-and-after photos, or cars in the flesh. Look closely at panel edges — that's where shortcuts show.
2. Genuine local reviews
Look for consistency across a good number of reviews, and how the business responds to any criticism.
3. A proper spray booth
A controlled, baked finish lasts. A quick spray in a dusty unit doesn't.
4. How they match colour
The answer should involve your car's factory code, adjusted for age, then blended — not a guess.
5. Honesty about scope
A trustworthy shop tells you what it does well and what it doesn't take on. Beware anyone who says yes to everything.
6. They want to see the car
A firm price from a photo alone is a guess. The good shops ask you to bring it in.
7. It feels right
You should be able to talk to the people doing the work. Come and have a chat with us at the Grimsby workshop.
