Audi S3 — deep metallic blue bonnet refinish
A full bonnet refinish in Audi's deep metallic blue — one of the colours that shows every flaw in prep and every mismatch in colour. Under the booth lights you can't find the join.

The starting point
An S3 bonnet that needed refinishing. On a big, flat, dark metallic panel like this the prep has to be perfect: any ripple in the primer shows straight through the gloss.
The process
- Bonnet stripped back, repaired where needed and primed, then guide-coated and blocked completely flat.
- Colour mixed to the factory code and checked against the wings under the lamps and in daylight.
- Base and clear applied in the booth and baked, then the edges blended so the bonnet reads as one with the wings.
- Flatted and machine-polished to a mirror finish.
The result
The finished bonnet under the booth lights, and the car back alongside another Audi we'd finished that week. This is what 'colour-matched' is supposed to mean.
Bonnet or roof needing a refinish?
Send a photo in daylight and one under cover — colour is easier to judge that way.
