When a touch-up is enough
For a tiny stone chip or fine scratch that hasn't reached bare metal, a careful touch-in seals the spot and makes it far less noticeable. It's quick and cheap — but it rarely disappears completely.
Why DIY kits disappoint
Shop-bought pens are better than nothing for sealing a chip, but they often leave a visible blob that catches the light. The colour is rarely a perfect match and there's no blending.
When you need a refinish
Once damage covers more than a coin-sized area, has broken the lacquer, or sits somewhere obvious, the tidy answer is to refinish the whole panel and blend it in — matched to your car and baked to last.
The simple test
Stand back six feet in daylight. If it still jumps out, it's worth refinishing properly. Bring it to our Grimsby workshop and we'll tell you straight — we won't push a respray you don't need.
